Who wants in Novmber! This will be the final competition of this year for who ever will still be hitting the water. I know I won't be able to get out much if at all this month but we might as well still have a thread for November. New comer's are always welcome! 

 

Personally I'm very excited for next year's competitions, hopefully we will get more people to participate and lots of big fish!

We will have snow and ice on our lakes soon enough, but as soon as the our lakes are ice free in the early spring the competitions will resume, can't wait!

last year I was so pumped to go out.. I forgot there was ice on one of the ponds I go to.. So there I was..........  hurled my jig out and all I hear was crack!!  I lost my jig.  the ice cut my line

It depends on the year some years we are frozen all winter some years not t all. Last year was very mild here so we are due for a long winter. I hope not, I was fishing news years day last year.

Me too then our bass won't be stunted so bad... maybe they'll grow really fat

 I am in for the final competition of the year. Probably wont get out too many times this month maybe 5 or 6 times. I am fishing my favorite spot tomorrow though. All the places I fish ice over. There are years when there is almost 48 inches of ice, then there is 2 feet of snow on top of that. Probably will be two weeks around -20 degrees at night like every winter. Ice up on a normal year is early December and then ice out is usually around the second week of April. I am not sure the bass would like to be aid down on the snow or be outside of the water too long. They would literally freeze eyes first then there fins

 I do ice fish quite a bit. It isn't just sitting around and drinking beer. You can do that and catch fish, sure. I prefer to actively go and find the fish. The only time I really sit down and wait for fish is breakfast and lunch. You catch more fish if you go and actively look for them as opposed ot sitting around and waiting for them to swim by your bait.

Do you target bass? I know some people do, but trout and perch seem to be targeted the most...

 I fish for bass and trout mostly.  I get a lot more action going after bass and crappie then trout and cusk.  I have had some pretty good days ice fising for bass. They love a nice big frisky 6 inch shiner. I have caught 30 bass in a day up to 6 lbs 8 oz. It is pure craziness when the bite is that good.

I love to learn new things, and I was curious if during the winter all the ponds and lakes froze over in the NE. If so, how far south does this freeze over occur? I apologize if I came off like if I was poking fun of your situation. I know I would be bummed if the tables were turned.

I'm only kidding with you. 99% of the water up here freezes over, and usually from sometime in Dec/Jan thru April. I'm not sure how far south the freeze goes, perhaps somewhere around the DC area?
