so i just ordered some lucky craft pointers, some of the deep divers and some of the normal ones. I was wondering where yall throw jerkbaits now and also where when winter hits.  Do you throw them in the same area you would throw a crankbait?

I know guys throw them all year, but for me it's early spring only. For now, I would try deeper weed edges and drops coming off shallow flats. Points also. Sorry, don't use them that much after April.

I have a lot of success with jerkbaits in the spring and fall. I fish them pretty much anywhere, but be careful around heavy vegetation, they get caught up a lot, but I have pulled big bass jerking parallel to weed lines.

I'm one that fishes them all year.  But they do shine during spring and fall when the shad bite is on.  When you see them busting they are a great lure to get those stragglers that won't hit a fluke or spook.

I use them as jerkbaits in spring, fall and winter but I crank them any other time of the year. Smaller ones (3 to 4 inches) make great finesse cranks

A good rule to follow, the colder the water, the longer you pause between jerks. I have gone 30+ seconds in between jerks in mid winter.

ok thanks guys, threw the pointer today and it was the crappiest lure i ever have seen, one fish hit it and the entire ring hole that the treble hook is on just ripped out of the lure body.

Pointer is an amazing bait. Blue gill, ghost minnow 78 and 100s are incredible for bass.

We usually fish pointers on Virginia lakes in the spring.

ya, claytor and i got it from a tackle shop back at my real home.  btw i think i have figured out claytor a little bit
