Fishin' Buddy

Featured Replies

  • Super User

I was bored this evening so I looked into some cheap electronics.

My dad has a small coleman crawdad and we use an old bottomline fishin buddy 2tn_PIC_1551.jpg

Then I saw hummin bird has a couple "fishin buddy"s and the two lowest models seem almost exactly the same as this old bottomline except for the buttons.

The imaging quality is almost identical.

Has there really been no improvement in technology on this front, or is bottomline/hummbird intentionally keeping the quality low to encourage people to buy more expensive units?

I'm positive that's what they are doing.  Hope it bites them too.

I saw this week you could buy a Lowrance 4x for 99.99 next week at Bass Pro.  That's nearly the same price as the bottom of the line Hummingbirds.
