Spro BBZ-1. Which one?

An online friend told me I have to try this lure.  I never bought a lure this expensive in my life.  I'm going to start with just one, but which one?  I am thinking the fast sinking model would be more versatile.  I believe I also read that it is hard to keep them down.

What color do you prefer?  Shad is probably best for me although the one lake I fish in gets stocked with trout.  Still, I think a shad color would be the most universal to get me started.

Appreciate any thoughts on the subject.  Thanks.

I would recommend the 6" over the 4". I use the slow sinking one and it can be a pain to keep down... Whatever color works well in your area is the ticket.

I'm a fan of trout colors, but as said, go with whatever color you have had luck with.

With regards to the 6" SS BBZ..retrieve should be VERY slow...mine stays down, depending on the speed that I retrieve it at..And yep, I would go with the 6", especially if your lake stocks trout.

It depends on which one you are talking about. I have fished all of these baits with good success and these are my go to colors and sink rates. If I had to pick just one out of all of them I would go with the 8in floater in silver fish. I have consistently caught really good quality fish on this bait.

If I had to pick one from each size, this is what I would choose. In the 8in model I would go with the floater in silver fish. In the 6 in model I would go with the slow sink in the Sexy Lavender shad. In the 4in model I would go with a fast sink in Sexy Lavender Shad.

I've been catching fish on the 6" slow sink in the Perch color, just recently added a 6" floater in the Lavender Shad color.

The 4" bait looks terrific in the water but I haven't caught anything on it yet. I prefer the 5" Tru Tungsten over the 4" Spro. The Tru Tungsten in the Bluegill color has done well for me with both tungsten weights inserted so I can fish it medium to fast retrieves.

I didn't see anything but a 6" model where I was looking.  I believe that is the size I will start with.  The trout color may be fine at the lake that stocks trout, but I want to be able to use this first lure wherever I fish.  Shad seems to be a favorite color in both of the lakes I fish.  Not sure about the Lehigh or Delaware River although the shad should do well in the Delaware since they hold a shad tournament locally every year.   ;D

There are a couple similar baits that I want to try.  My wife would have me living on the street if I bought several colors in all sizes and weights.   :)

Matching the hatch is all well and good, but color choice should be secondary.  Pick something that fits the conditions.  Grab a light color and a dark color if you can afford more than one.  The action of the bait is key.

There's a bunch of guys that throw trout pattern swimbaits in lake that have no trout, and they catch fish with em..It's the presentation that matters most.. :)

My wife would have me living on the street if I bought several colors in all sizes and weights.   Sad

If you have a decent car or truck that wouldn't be so bad.  ;D

Don't trip hard on the color.
