Two Wright & Mcgill Rick Clunn Casting Rods For $50

Featured Replies

I had four delivered to my house 2 for me and 2 for a friend, all came safely all in the triangle box's, but only 2 had packing material the other 2 did not...kinda weird...

Haha, I was wondering if anybody else had the same shipping?

My wife was like, "I don't understand did you buy"?

How would the 7' H work for A-rigs?  Would it not be a good choice since they are fiberglass?  Right now I use a 7'MH berkely lightning shock rod paired with a C3 4600 but my current rod seems a little too light when trying to heave an A-rig.  I was thinking of pairing the 4600 with the Rick Clunn rod as my A-rig and for deep cranks but I have never used a fiberglass rod and it has kept me from pulling the trigger.

I plan on experimenting with these to find something they "like". They were out of M so I got two Heavies. Might not be bad for rigs since the bite isn't exactly subtle...  come to think of it, the 7'6" pool cue might be decent for that.

I got two of the 6'8 jerkbait rods and am going to use them for jerks/poppers/blade baits and spooks ...  casted them yesterday for first time and compared to what I have been fishing with it is an amazing new world - can't wait to feel the heaviness on the other end of the line..  Merry Christmas! DO NOT USE THESE FOR A RIGS! It will snap on the first cast. I bought two earlier this year when they were on sale. They are mediocre rods and one has already snapped on me while casting. I had the 7ft H and it broke casting a 1/2oz spinnerbait. It was probably damaged in shipping or a blem but I can tell you it was WAY too flimsy for an Arig.

I agree with Downtown, with the soft and flimsy tip, any significant weight will probably snap the tip. The tips are not solid, they have pretty thin walls.

i got 2 of these and they were packed seperately in those huge triangular boxes, unsecured so they had over a foot to slam back and forth. both of my tip tops. rods arent bad except for the God awful color. kinda weak in the tip, may end up selling or trading them before using them.
