Split Rings On Speedtraps

Featured Replies

this is probably a dumb question but if i put a split ring on a speed trap instead of the snap that it comes with stock will it affect the action at all. i dont like the stock hardware on that thing.

Never had a problem with the stock snap. Caught quite a few largemouth in the 8-9lb class and stripers upto 20lbs, never had one fail. With that said I don't think a snap ring will change the action that much if at all.

This is the secret bait pros never talk about or you will not see tied on at the dock  .I have fished with pros and they use the snap but change hooks

.This is more important. When they talk to each other about this bait they use a code name that I was asked to  revel. The pros won't always tell you the truth about what they really use. They have an obligation to there sponsors not to endorse anything they do not use. You can understand this they will not lie but will leave things out. This bait is a real fish catcher

I never had a problem with the snap, but like a previous poster, I doubt substituting a split ring will change the action enough for you or the fish to notice.

Have used a snap for many years.....very little if any problems. Speed traps are awesome.....bought a bunch of em before they went overseas.
