E3000 Throttle Control Box

Featured Replies

My control Box and or cables are not working properly it will not go into gear. I am afraid I may need a new one. This is a Gen 1 model on a 1998 Nitro with a 115 Mariner. If you havehave one or know of anyone with on I would greatly appreciate a PM. If you have a Gen 2 and the Cables that would also work. Or someone with the general knowledge of how I could reassemble mine would be helpful.

Did you take it apart?  They can be tricky to get back together....

Yeah one of my fishing buddies said he knew how to get it back together, but once the little flat metal "springs" fell out he said"what are those". Great right. I think I ma be able to get it together though. I cleaned alot of the gunky overloaded grease out of it. and gave the cables a good slide they seemed to be loose enough to be moved by the throttle when pushed. On the water I put it into reverse to get it off the trailer and it seemed to want to move foward. Not sure what is happening. Thought maybe they were on backwards.

Reverse is where the things get goofed up, at least that's what I found.  All the cables have to seat properly in the cover, and the reverse cable is tricky.  I think those spring washers are just interference fit, under the shifter stick, one on each side, maybe?  You should be able to see it in a repair book at any marine OB parts store, like West Marine.

I will check one of those books to see if I can figure it out. Thanks J Francho.
