They look new, but has anyone tried these?

I have read that a lot of people fish swimbaits like jigs so this bait is very intriguing to me.

I have never seen the lateral perch in action but baitsmith has one that looks pretty sick.

looks pretty cool, the baitsmith is a little pricey i think. this is kind of a cheaper version.

Boy, I'd hate to get hung up and lose one of these!

And you know what they say about jig fishing - you ain't doing it right unless you lose a couple every outing.

Baitsmith makes a topwater, the lateral perch fishes like a flipping jig they are very different creatures. I hear its killer around boat docks, but I have not gotten one yet to try for myself.

looks interesting...

yeah i didn't see that till after.

I didn't realize that this bait was fished like a jig either. Missed that somehow. I googled it and it says it good for 10-15 fish then you have to replace the tails. The price point I saw was $10.99. That does not sound cheap either when you have to buy replacement tails. Its an interesting concept. I have fished mission fish and other swimbaits on the bottom stroking them like a jig with some success.

Try a Lake Fork Live Magic Shad, rigged sideways as a jig trailer. I haven't yet, but I have used beat up paddle tails and super flukes like this. Caught a few bass, but I was mostly targeting northerns.

I got this from a place I can't mention, but thought you guys might be interested in this information about the lateral perch. I have no stake in their company, other than I would like to try this thing around boat docks myself. Just trying to save some of you guys some money if you are going to get one anyway.

"The price is going up from $10.99 to $13.99 on November 1st. If you would like to place an order please contact

They went on to say that places like Tackle Warehouse set their prices accordingly so they will go up there as well.

I think it is a sick looking bait for flipping brush/pads etc. Think how many fish see texas rigs and standard jigs crashing down and moving up and down. This bait will fall eratically all the while the tail section will wag and flutter. It is flat so it will tend to spiral down in different directions.Ever drop a quarter in water or a flat rock,or even a spoon? You can never predict which direction it will fall or which way it will curve. When a dying baitfish runs out of gas from trying to right itself they lay on their sides and spiral down.I think it will be VERY effective. Price don't seem too awful bad to me except for the fact that this bait could easily be lost by the shear nature of where you would be throwing it.It would also make sense to me that this bait may be excellent for skipping.

The Lateral Perch is excellent for swiming on top the water too.1/4 and 1/2 once have no problem staying within the surface.Erratical fall with slack line only ,as to a tight line she will glid to the bottom.I haven't caught any thing yet just getting used to the bait first in back of my house in the lake. You will like to know that the action is greatly improved if you slightly cut the junt to make it kwiver more than it already does.On top you can actaully make the jigg jump in and out of the water.

Isn't it amazing what one major tournament win and the mention of the bait in the tournament winner's details does to the price?   ;D

Same thing happened with the Sweet Beaver. Ish mentioned it in a BASSMASTER article and BAM! Sweet Beavers were backordered for months.

ya it is amazing, ill try to find something that looks similar usually except with senko's i like the real ones.

I received mine in 3 day's.Yup I say it was really backed up.
