Has Anyone Used A Rod Bag For Transport?

Featured Replies

I am looking for something to put my rods in to keep from tangling and for transport in the boat or truck bed. I found this rod bag at bps http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Extreme-Combo-Caddy-Rod-and-Reel-Carrier/product/15114/ but the reviews are not stellar. Its hard to tell if that is due to user error, unrealistic expectations, or a not great product.

does anyone here use this? Or use something else?

When I was fishing BFL  as a co-angler, I had something similar.  It worked great for transporting rods & reels from my truck to the dock and back.  It isn't that it offered "protection" per se, just make it easier to gather & tote a half a dozen rods & reels.  For transporting rods & reels inside the truck I have a Rod Saver vehicle rod carrier.  Works great and I can carry over 20 rods in in.

I have two and I love them. They keep your rods secure and tangle free.

I would recommend rod gloves (or similar) for each rod to keep lines from tangling. Then you can put a bunch in a bag, rod locker, etc with minimal tangling.

This bag is fine for your stated purpose, but I would not expect it to provide any sort of significant protection from crap sliding into or on top of it in a truck bed.
