Abu Garcia Orra Winch?

Featured Replies

So has anyone tried one of these reels out yet?! They've been out for a little while, they seem pretty appealing to me, but I can't find anyone who has used one or posted a review on one. If you used one, can it cast lightweight cranks well (1/4oz.)? Also tell me what you like and dislike about it. What other reels for cranking do you think are better (in the price range, other than the BB1, lol)?

Thanks

I have one but to be fair have not used it yet since the water here is covered in ice. The reel is nice and smooth out of the box. To be honest it was smoother than the revo stx I got along with it until I broke them down and cleaned them. The long handle is defiantly noticeable and has over sized rubber grips for leverage. As far as 1/4 ounce cranks, I don't see why it would throw them fine but I don't see myself throwing that small of a crank with a winch reel as I will be using it for deeper running crank baits. The other decoding factor for me was getting 30% off retail price so the value was hard to beat. Don't rule out the bps pq reel which also comes in a 5:1 ratio and will be on sale in the spring. Also a proven winner and smooth reel. Wish I could give you an actual use review but that will have to wait until April.

As for throwing 1/4oz crankbaits you don't need a low gear ratio because most cranks that small don't go very deep. Plus they wont cast very far because of how deep the spool is.

I'm not exactly sure if they are 1/4, they are just lighter cranks. I wasn't really thinking, this would be for deep divers, so i wouldn't have the problem
