Worm Binders???

Featured Replies

Anyone use a worm binder, and if so, which one do you suggest?

No, tried one once, didn't come close to holding all the packages of worms I had, and I didn't feel like spending $15 each on 4 or 5 more.  I find its easier to keep them all in a plastic bin, throw that in the car, and pick out what i want.

As a co angler I have to bring everything with me, just taking a few soft baits with me is a real disadvantage.

I bought one of those binder's at BPS with the plastic rip lock bags but the bags keep ripping and eveything keeps falling out when I flip to another bag.

Other than carrying a separate box with me along with the tackle bag I which I don't want to do because some of the boaters in my club get a little surly if I bring more than bag and rods, I'm at a loss.

In the spirit of getting organized, I'd gotten a soft plastic organizer with zippers.  The stupid thing weighs a metric ton and it was a pain to cram in the baits (often they wouldn't all fit) and take them out again.  I can't imagine zip locks are much better.

I'm with Moby bass.  It's easier to just keep softbaits in their original package and toss them all in in a large wormproof box .  Yeah, they aren't "organized" and you do have to fish through them to locate the one you want but it still beats the other hassles.

I use these. The double sided version.

I have six of these, with baits organized by type.

Bag 1 - Flukes on one side, tubes on the other.

Bag 2 - senkos on one side, ikas on the other.

Bag 3 - big worms on one side, small worms on the other.

Bag 4 - craws on one side, creatures on the other.

Bag 5 - finesse baits on one side, 3X baits on the other.

Bag 6 is a day bag for short trips or bank walking. I load it with whatever I think I may want for that particular day.

A couple of these bags are several years old, and I have so much stuff crammed in them I should have blown out the seams and trashed the zippers. But, they're still going strong.

If you can wait, they go on sale every spring.

I use the plano guide series one from dick's sporting goods.Kinda looks much like the Large version from Ghoti's link.

I use those small cloth bags made for soft baits from Bass Pro or Cabela's and I like them much better than the binders. The bags are not expensive and you can get plenty in one and it is easy to change the contents from time to time.

I have 2 of those free bags Bassmaster gives you for joining. One has worms and the other has others, tubes, lizards, etc. I just keep the ret at home, if it doesn't fit in those 2 bags I don't need it. You could use 1 of those ags and just bring essentials.

I had the one sided version when I was fishing as a non-boater. I was much more organized back then. Now I have a huge storage compartment full of crap, and I can't find anything.

I'll add something to what I posted earlier.  I have all the worm bags in a plastic container, then, if I'm walking the bank or something I put what I think I want in a very sturdy military OD bag that measures about 6"x9"x12".  It has a hard bottom, handles and a very handy shoulder strap.  Also 6 pockets on the outside, (3 per side) if I want to put a few other things in as well.  Being military surplus, it is practically indestructible.  Check out your local military surplus store.

I have just recently stopped using them because they take a little bit longer to go through so now i put my baits in plano boxes based on what they are such as creature baits or stick baits. I did this mainly because i tournament fish more now and like the advantage of finding what i want quickly.
