How do you think the spill in West Virginia is going to affect the fishing along the Ohio River? It's 80 miles long, and supposed to move through Cincinnati this evening.

Its probably going top kill alot of bait fish and drive the bigger fish back the creeks. now would be a great time to load up in Tanners Creek. Hope the effects dont linger too long and effect the spawn.

I doubt it does anything to the fishing in the Ohio. It did not affect cabel county which is the first county in WV after the chemicals would have reached the Ohio river.

Thats great to hear, hope we get the same effects here.

Officials here are saying that it will reach Louisville,KY tomorrow. They said it would be like a drop in 500 whiskey barrels. I wouldn't think that would hurt the fish.

I doubt it will have any affect whatsoever.  The Ohio is a high flow river and during this time of the year there is a ton of water trucking downriver.  Right now it has come back up since our last rains and is a good couple feet above pool and above my dock on the upper McAlpine pool just above Louisville.  It's muddy and moving fast right now.

 

 

Regardless; disgusting that things like this happen.  Those responsible for this type of an event, or lack of oversight which leads to this type of event, should be imprissoned.
