Daiwa guys. I am getting a new Tatula rod or two. I was looking at cranking rods and will be throwing mostly 1/2 oz cranks and 1/2 oz lipless cranks and something slightly bigger here and there. So would you get the 7' M regular or the 7'2 MH regular?

 

Also, is regular for Daiwa like moderate for other guys? So would the regular make a good crank rod or more of a light jig rod? 

 

So which rod would you pick, and what is regular taper like? Thanks

Been thinking about the tat for the same purpose. Im looking at the 7'7" Med Reg rated to 3/4oz figure give a bit better distance. I dont have a clue as to the actual taper but hoping to check them out at a fishing show next week.

Yes, the regular is close to the same as another companies mod fast. If you're fishing open water and don't plan on going above a half ounce, the medium should be fine. Otherwise, get the MH

Hogsticker is spot on. I have used Daiwa rods for years now and am placing an order for 4 Tatula rods tonight. Med/Reg will be good for your 1/2 once baits but if you move up to 3/4 or 1 ounce baits you will want the MH so that the rods are loading up correctly.

If it were me I would jump on a MH rod rather tan a M rod, I owned a Kistler Mag TS M power crankbait rod and it didn´t feel right casting a 3/4 oz crank, a MH power will provide you with a wider range of crankbait weights.

 

Regular action rods are not good for jigs no matter the power rating.

I have a Daiwa Ballistic 7'11" M cranking rod with a "Regular" action.  I'd call it a Moderate-Fast; it's too fast for a Moderate but definitely slower than a Fast action.  Loads very well for cranks, but it's definitely on the soft side for anything else.
