Suggestion For A Two Piece Travel Rod

Featured Replies

Like the topic title says, I'm looking for suggestions for a travel rod that I can carry around in my truck (inside the cab). I want something decent, but it doesn't have to be extremely nice. I'll be pairing it with a small size pflueger president spinning reel, probably 10 lb braid, and using plastic worms and jerkbaits. I have a few small bodies of water that are near where I live and where I travel frequently, and I'd like to be able to just hop out of the truck, fish for an hour or so, and then get going without the hassle of carrying a 7' casting setup and my tackle bag everywhere I go. Thanks in advance!

I have Team Daiwa T Spinning Rod in 6'6" M 2pc. I bought as a spare / my daughters rod, but I am using this frequently. Very light weight and very well made. The finish is excellent. I think I paid like $60 shipped.

st croix makes a lot of 2 piece rods

I use a Damiki Angel EX as my travel rod for the past 1.5 years and have had no problems with it yet. I'm not sure they make they spinning version anymore but I'm sure you can find one on ebay. They retail for around $80.

I'm looking at getting a fenwick elite tech

I got a St. Croix Premier 6'6" MF 2-piece spinning rod to pair with a Shimano Stradic 1000fi recently. The version has a split grip, which Cabela's advertises as exclusive to them. It is extremely light and well balanced with the Stradic. I'm running 10# braid with a 6# fluoro leader. I caught two 3s and a 4-pounder a few days after getting it.

If you're needing to save a few bucks, you can get the Triumph. It's made in Mexico (vs. US-made Premier) and has poorer guides (at least the one I saw looked less nice than the Premier), but otherwise I've read it is the same rod.

Either a Fenwick 2 piece or a st croix  2 piece rod. Ive used every level of Fenwick from gt- aetos and they are great rods.

Edit: and Ive sold ever level of st croix from triumph- legend extreme and used the majority of the avid/premier lineup.

Definetley Fenwick for two piece spinning rods I have two piece Fenwick Eagle GT (Discountinued i believe) that i have had for 10 years and have caught everything from little bluegill to 20lb halibut in the surf without any problems
