Anyone Else Using Braid+Flouro Leader For Finesse?

Featured Replies

Yep.

10lb braid to flouro leader, uni to uni. This has been a standard in salt fishing for a long time for me and works great for bass in clear water as well.

Seems to be catching on for bass recently.

The only negative aspect is your introducing a point of failure in your line with the braid to leader knot, but if tied correctly the break strength will be pretty high. My 10 braid to 15 flouro knot breaks at 14lbs.

Hey folks, I've been using straight flouro for plastics and hard baits, but have been considering trying out using braid with a flouro leader this year, especially for plastics. What would people recommend on a spinning and casting setup that are being used for all-purpose use? I mainly fish from shore and generally carry one spinning and one casting.

well, I prefer Power Pro Super Slick in either 15 or 20 lb and I usually use a 12-15 lb fluoro leader. That should cover just about any situation you need. That braid casts fantastic, no memory etc...

x2. My "general purpose" spinning setup gets 20# PP Super 8 Slick in yellow with a 10# Seaguar Red Label leader. I was using 12# Invizx, but wanted to save a buck or two after getting a second spinning setup.
