Shimano Curado 200G6 Reel Opinion

Featured Replies

I can pick up a new in the box Curado 220G6 for $115 to my door. Is it worth it? Can anyone give me the pros/cons of the reel and how it stacks up to other brands? Thanks!

Nothing wrong with that reel IMO at that price. I personally like the reel. People will compare it to the 200E full price vs full price and say buy something else. My friend broke one and it was 20 dollars to replace a gear and re-lube. Cost friendly repair, he's abusive to his gear. HawgTech sells bearings and accessories for it also to make it all "spiffy" if you want to modify it.

I have 3 of the G series curados. Fished them all last season alongside my Chronarchs. Never a problem. Of course you must know, I bought the 3 good ones they made. And like Diggy said, abusive. Some guys could tear up a rock...lol.

Good, serviceable reel.  If you like it - wait a month or so and check the price then. A new model Curado will be released on or about February 21 and the current "G" models will be for sale at clearance prices. Guesstimates of the clearance price have ranged from $100 down to $50.

Be patient...and save...

I've had one for two years. Not had a single issues. It cast light lures very well. It's one of those "set it and forget it" type reels. Set the VBS, adjust cast control know and go fish. For a "5 bearing reel" it's very smooth. If you read the reviews and whining since the G came out, you probably think it will blow up in your hand, lol, but it's a fine, workhorse reel.
