there are quite a few online tourneys and i have seen them in the salt more than the freshwater but htey are out there.  Do a searh for kayak bass fishing open....it is in Santee Cooper this year again i beleive for it's second year

as flyfisher said, there is actually a Hook1 kayak fishing tournament and it is on the santee cooper system in South Carolina so that's driveable for you.  Also, i know there was a group called Hardcore Kayak Fishing in Charlotte, NC that met regularly and had a really cool friendly format for some tournaments.  all were catch, photo, release and like a $25 entry fee i think.  i'm hoping to find something similar in the Atlanta, GA area but no luck thus far!  good luck with the search, i hope you find one.  i find that fishing with another friend in the kayak can be so fun and enlightening, although many days i love the solitude of going solo.....

there is also a mid atlantic kayak series but that would be a haul for you as most are in the northern VA maryland area

Also look up the guys on NCKFA. They have a year long series all through NC.
