Any Review On Motorguide X3 Bowmount Trolling Motors?

Featured Replies

Have anyone try these yet and are they any better or on same page as Minn Kota Edge? I'm looking at the X3 in 45 lb thrust. I'm trying to stay under $400 and I use to own an Edge but was stolen along with many other things that I now have to replace.

I have a 45" shaft 55# model sitting in the box at the house. I realized I needed the 36" model for my boat too late. So now waiting for the new motor to come before mounting. Anyway, getting to check them out in person at bass pro, I can say I am impressed with how they have beefed them up. The upper shaft is massive and the foot pedal is nice material.

Just got mine in today, looks great more to follow

I got my new one mounted up this last weekend.  I got the 55 lb thrust with the 36" shaft.  It's perfect for my aluminum river boat.  I've used it once and it works well.  It replaces a 37 lb Motorguide that's almost 20 years old and going strong.  Just wanted a little more thrust for fishing current on the river.

One thing  that is taking some getting used to is that the steering is the complete opposite of the old motor, so there's a learning curve.  I used the old one so much that it was natural to operate and I never had to look down at it.  Now, I have to watch the arrow on top constantly and am working to train my brain.

I'm really liking mine, 45lb thrust replaces a 22lb old motorguide. The steering is effortless and very precise. It doesn't drain the battery is quiet and does reasonably well in the salad. No complaints
