I can't wait to see how the fishing industry uses the whole 3d printing concept. Or do they already?

You could make replica megabass 110's, griffons, etc quite easily I'd imagine..

I dont know if they do, thats why I asked. We have one at the university that I attended and now work for but I dont have access to it. Ive seen it run and make a bolt with threads and a nut to fit it sitting beside it at the same time.

You would need cad experience but you could turn out anything you can think of, I imagine at some point they will make them spray carbon fiber. I think they already have them printing in metal.

Structurally they are insane, they honeycomb to make up large gaps giving strength to the final model. I read an article the other day where a guy bought one, printed out another one from it then returned it. Whether thats 100% true I dont know. You would need to know electrical design and how to make it read cad at some point.

I've looked at the home ones for like 1200 bucks or whatever but the biggest thing you could do was like 4" by 4" or something to that effect. I want get one for making masters for softplastic baits but you cant do a worm at that. Could do some craws and stuff though.

yeah i have one at my school ( college) I'm studying Mechanical engineering.

i have made many fishing related things in solidworks, inventor, and autocad, I haven't printed anything fishing related but those printers can make some crazy things. you could make some really good soft plastic molds and hard baits. the thing is the printers are pretty expensive ( a decent one costs $2000 +)

Carbon fiber has to be weaved/interlinked and then compressed. I don't think they could make a spray version of that, but I think they will eventually come out with a strong composite plastic like material that can hold up.
