Poor Boy's Erie Darter

Featured Replies

I have heard nothing but good things about the Erie Darter and I would like to start using them. I know they're a killer Smallmouth bait especially on the Great Lakes. I have used them a few times, but I ended up switching back to something I have more confidence in before I could get bit. I was just wondering the best ways to rig it and how you guys like to work it (drag it, hop it, etc.). Thanks

I drag the 4" version on a 1/2 ounce football like I would drag a tube.  I will bump up to a 3/4 ounce football in deep and/or windy conditions.   This seems to have replaced the tube for me on many waters, but oddly, I have not caught a smallmouth on Erie yet with it.   lol    The 3 1/2" version dropshots well.

I think this topic might be dead, but i'll respond anyway.  I just got some and haven't had a chance to use it.  People have been drop shotting them or throwing them on a 1/4oz football jig head.

I always here of guys using them on shaky head.
