Powell Endurance Or Powell Max

Powell Max 704 or powell endurance 714? is it worth the extra money?

Yes. Absolutely. Its lighter and a more sensitive. Both are well made rods. Why drive a ford ranger when u can upgrade to a F150 for what amounts to 20 or 30 bucks.

I've had two Max rods. The 7105 flipping rod and the 766 flip rod. I bought a 775 endurance and the difference was huge. And have since sold both of the max rods and bought a 764 endurance.

I know this isn't the two rods in question but it is a max to Endurance cpmparison.

As far as I'm aware they're the same blank. I could be wrong but I remember reading that a while ago. From personal experience, I really couldn't tell a huge difference. I think the Endurance might have smaller guides and the purple wrap. Honestly, I like the look of the Max more.

I used to have a couple Powell's but I recently switched over to Dobyns. I kept my Max 683c though, which is easily one of my favorite rods.

Hopefully something in there is helpful.

I have a max 703 and endurance 723. They're both maxumfiber blanks but I don't think they are the same blanks .

The max and Endurance are not the same blank at all. the endurance is the way to go but that is not to say the max is bad because it isn't. If you took a Powell Endurance and painted the reel seat, stuck a couple of $1.00 rod wraps on it and stuck a carbon reel nut on it, you would have a Dobyns DX for $209.00 less.

Gary Dobyns used to be in with Powell and had a part in the rods design. Something happened and he started his own company. I've never fished a Dobyns but I also don't feel the need to spend $250 on a Champion when for $150 I can get a great rod that I'm more then happy with. I'll use that extra $100 and put towards a Daiwa reel.
