Threadwork Bleeding?

Featured Replies

After I applied my FlexCoat to my recent rod building project, I noticed that to colored thread had bled onto the pearl thread.post-7608-0-18696900-1392760185_thumb.jp

I used metalic thread for the entire wrap and was under the impression that it wasn't necessary to use a color preserver.  Was I wrong in my assumption?  I'm planning on doing some work for a friend and would hate to ruin his rod.

FYI, I got an answer from the staff at MudHole. "Always, always, always use a color preserver when using white thread no matter what composition it is.  This will eliminate most fading that occurs when wrapping over a dark blank and the running, or bleeding of adjacent colored thread."

Yeah that pearl metallic turns almost translucent. The only white I don't use cp on is if it is a color fast white and even then you have to make sure you pack the threads carefully.

Even when using nylon thread the thread will turn translucent unless 1) you use cp or. 2) you use a colorfast thread
