My question is the BPS Monofilament line good to buy? Whats the best Mono line brand?

 

Im looking for strong mono line with a backbone. Will be fishing for smallmouth in rocky rivers.

If I must use mono on a spinning reel, I use Sufix Elite or Stren original.

 

I think you should check out the Bass Pro XPS fluoro, but that's sort of outside the scope of your question.

They will fill your reel with BPS mono for free. If you find you don't like it you can buy something different.

I've used the BPS Excel mono for as long as I can remember. Works fine and is pretty cheap when they have the buy 2 get 1 free sale.

To me this is the best answer. If you're not sure what to spool up with, just try out the BPS mono for zilch, nada. I did this for one of my spinning reels years ago. Since then I now use braid for everything, then tie on a leader. But I'd go with Hootie's recommendation.

I bought two spinning reels at BPS last spring,i asked how much theyd charge to put mono on them.He told me a set price?never neationed about doing it for free?

What he wanted to charge me,i could have bought a big spool,so i did. I dont know why they tryed to charge me.

Someone messed up. If you come into BPS in Cincinnati and buy a dozen reels, you'll get free line on a dozen reels.
