I had some success with the scatter rap in the crawfish color. I would reel slow and then speed up to make it dart to the side. I would run it above the weeds before they got too high. With nothing to bump a squarebill off the action was as advertised and it worked for me. I don't know about a deep diving model I like to grind the bottom when deep cranking.

So apperently rapala is coming out with shallow running and deep running Scatter Raps. I haven't fished with one of the normal ones yet, but if the shallow runner does what it says I might be tempted! What do you all think?

How do you fish your shallow shad raps and why are they better than a square bill crank?  I've grown up around Rapalas but I don't throw shad raps.  I was more of a rattling Fat rap and risto rap guy. 

 

I think it's the profile flat shape with the tight wobble.

Pass. The Scatter Raps I do have didn't blow me away this past summer.

 

Besides, everyone knows this summer's money wasting It Lure is the Live Target Bait Ball...

Same here.  I picked up the Scatter shallow in Bluegill recently.  It's hard to believe that it is rated to dive to 5 feet.  I'm still waiting for a big bodied scatter sub 1 foot crank.
