I've recently purchased a couple of Storm's new line of "Arashi" cranbaits. I really like the colors and the profile of this lure. Has anyone gotten a chance to use this lure out on the water?

I used one Thursday. I threw it for about 30 minutes.  I don't think the conditions were spectacular for the bait but I had to get some crankin in!  lol  I like the action of the bait.  Super sharp stock hooks.  It hung up in some grass close to shore and I went wading to get it back.  The water was COLD!  I didn't want to give up the 8 bucks!

I bought some last fall and I like them a lot. I will be getting some of the new rattling ones this spring!

I have heard good things about the bait, but have not fished it yet myself.

I bought a Bluegill 5 foot diving squarebill last summer.  I didn't get to put any time behind it because it was frogging season.

 

The bait cast very well and came through the water with little effort.  The thin bill really allows it to slice through the water and to get down to its diving depth quickly.  The action seems good, but not great IMO.  I would liked to have seen more tail kicking and some roll in the bait's movements.  Their buoyancy is not excessive nor is it insufficient and is about right, if not slightly slow rising.  

 

I think the combination of the thin bill and low-ish buoyancy should make them good cold water cranks.  I picked up a Flat 7 Arashi the other day and it's a completely different animal from the squarebills.    

I have 2 of them. Its really good to fish them rocky area and around laydowns. I love them.

bought one saturday, threw it twice on sunday.  that was before i got it snagged and broke the hooks off getting it unsnagged.  stupid water pump grates

aside from that the bait seems nice!

Maybe it's just me but it seems like there would have been an easier way....maybe a plug knocker? or maybe just pull it out of the grass unless it's some wild and crazy gorilla grass?

Bought a Blue Gill color last year and snagged Parrot and Wakasaki on sale. MIght have to get a craw pattern too.

I didn't have my knocker with me.  I will say this tho.  One of those telescopic ones would have come in really handy!  I may have to get on for bank beating.  That water was so cold, I didn't realize until later that night, that I had scraped my arch pretty good. I was walking to bed and thought I'd stepped on something.  Nope, I had a chunk of flesh missing! LOL
