Black Lake In St. Lawrence County, Ny

Has anyone ever fished Black Lake in St. Lawrence county? I went there a couple years ago and fished it for a week and had amazing success. We absolutely hammered the smallmouth. They were all between 15-18" and 90% of them came on a Rapala DT-6. We had numerous accidental pike catches (not a bad thing), caught a few huge crappie which tasted great and got to witness a bunch of 50+ lb sturgeon jump 5' in the air next to our boat. I'm curious if anyone else has any stories from Black Lake. For me it definitely lived up to its reputation.

Awesome lake! I take an annual week long fishing trip with just the boys. You can just about catch them any way you want. I just wish I lived a little closer then 8 hours away. We rent a couple of cabins on camp carol. The have a nice little protected cove with docks.

You really can catch them any way you want, and you can catch what ever you want. I wish I was closer as well because i would love to fish it more. Seems like the whole lake is dedicated to fishing. There is a bait store every half-mile.

I haven't been in a while. Do they still have a bad algae bloom every year? When I went last was 4th of July week and the water was like pea soup. Even then it was good especially end of the week when it cooled a few degrees.

Oh yea they still have the algae bloom. Every summer it turns to pea soup just like you said. Awesome lake to fish though. The bloom doesn't seem to effect the fishing.
