First Fish Of The Year...

Recommended Posts

Caught her last week, so I'm a little late on posting but here she is. Not sure what she weighed. And yes...she was released.

Do you have an idea as to length or girth?  If so you can get a decent estimate using the calculator.

You can always fudge your numbers in your favor ... LOL  :eyebrows:

Nice one. Here is a similar shot with similar rod for length perspective. This one went 4lbs as I recall. Yours looks bigger by girth.

I'd start the day with a reaction bait like a white spinnerbaits or a rattle trap if you get there early, try a top water! if the fish are active, they should be hitting those baits. If nothing, switch over to a jig and a Senko. Those should get bit. Good luck!

All depends on the water color and temp. I caught them one day last week on a white SB and three days later, I couldn't buy a bite on a SB. The water was choc milk. I caught a few on a craw colored rattle trap. Just play the conditions. People say, Zman Chatterbaits work really good this time of year also. I bought a few at www.bigbassusa.com for like $6 a piece.

Oh yeah that's a big fish! I haven't caught many larger sized bass, so I'm not gonna take a guess. Congrats!
