Has Anyone Used The Crucial Umbrella Rig Rod ?

Featured Replies

I'm building a light duty 1-3oz swimbait setup and the crucial 7'9 umbrella rod caught my eye. Has anyone used that and would know if that could double as a good umbrella and swimbait rod ? Will be paired with a conquest 201. I almost pulled the trigger on a mike long dobyns rod but I think its a little heavier for what I'm going to be throwing. 1-2oz 5-6 inch hardbaits will be thrown most of the time...

The 7'11 Swimbait rod has triple foot guides to the top EXTREMELY tip heavy, dont know about the 7'9

While I don't have any hands on experience with the Crucial version I do own the Cumara model. I've used it very successfully with, of course, A-Rigs but it's also very good for 1/2 oz and up swim jigs and swimbaits. I don't really have that many swimbaits as of right now but I'm more than confident in saying if I did this rod would handle them beautifully. I wouldn't have the slightest worry about picking up the Crucial, it's basically the same thing as what I have and I've been very happy with my rod.

Thanks for the info. Only thing I'm Leary about is the reel seat. Ive read alot of complaints online about the reel seat coming loose all the time...

Well I've not read anything about that but my Cumara hasn't ever. After tightening it down snug it has stayed put so far.
