Help With A Fishing Trip

Featured Replies

So me and a buddy are going out next weekend. I have been bass fishing for about 2 years and feel like I'm decent. He primarily fishes for cats. I want to give us the best odds of not getting skunked. Weather is going to be in upper 50's close to 60 but will be coming off of 4 days below 40. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

In Ohio?  In March?

Four days below 40*?

Sounds like fun!!!

How about asking the same question in the geographical section of this Forum to try to engage guys in your area about what waters you will be fishing and what they have been doing.

Other than tight wobble crank baits; lipless  crankbaits; and shaky head I have no idea what will work where you will be fishing.

Just have a good time and be safe.

Water temps and type of water/cover where you are going would give you a start. Low 40's: silver buddy, lipless crank, shad rap and jig along rocky bank. Upper 40's-low 50's: jerkbait, small cranks, underspin with swimbait, jig , shakey head, and lipless crank. Probably throw A-rig for suspended fish in both water temp ranges. Key to others is to make contact with structure in both temp ranges, just pause longer if it's in the low 40's. Good luck!

Where Im from in Ohio jerk baits are always a go to bait also texas rigged tubes, slow rolling spinnerbaits and shad raps seem to do the trick.
