Big, to interpret what you wrote I read "The guy always runs me out of White Oak Swamp Creek. But online I read that the place is public. So do I just stay and fish? What should I do?

Suggestions:

1.  Who is the person running you out? The property owner or just a goody two-shoe? A security guard?

2.  Be sure you have your Virginia fishing license in case the guy who runs you away calls the VG&IF or the local Henrico police department.

3.  Call VG&IF and ask them if the creek is open to the public as far as they know.

Depending on the status of the guy who tries to run you away I would stay and fish and take my chances with the law if they show up.

thats what im going to keep doing because they dont have any signs up or anything its swamp creek off of green wood road right on the glen allen hanover border a couple of website are public so im going to keep fishing it and yes i do have a fishing license and i guess the worst thing they could do is tell me to leave if they cops came because i would tell them that online says it public access to fish there cause theres a house on the other side of the place but it a huge place and i no forsure he doesnt own it all cause he lives in a trailer type house

I can tell you from looking at the standard Google maps (non satellite) that if you scroll in to the 500 ft. range per the scale, you can see where the current property lines are drawn.  Once you see where the lines are, then switch to satellite view and look for a house or residence of some form.

Just because a person lives in a trailer does not provide you any right to assume they are not the property owner.  A good friend of mine had a trailer for almost his entire life, and just rcently replaced it with a rancher and paid CASH in full to build it.  Looks can be deceiving, so you may want to roll on over to the Hanover Courthouse and go visit the Public Records office to see if anyone pays property tax on the area you are speaking of.  Better to be safe than sorry.  Never know, the next time the guy could come out armed and put a couple shots at you.  If the property has No Trespassing signs on it, you're up a creek.

you can also go to the GIS site and see who owns any piece of land in Hanover.

You could always ask for permission from the guy rather than getting run off multiple times too.....

Good advice above.

We do not want you to get into trouble so please try to research the area.

Make sure you have your fishing license with you, too.

Be careful and let us know if you catch anything.
