I like using a luckee lizzard type thing rigged texas style. Putting beads on really improves the noise.

Wayne, you don't count.  i think you could catch a fish in a puddle with a safety pin for a hook :)

I fished a local pond for 45 minutes yesterday with a senko. It was really windy. I struggled and didn't catch anything, but that plastic was torn up by the end. They were hitting it, I just didn't detect a single thing and I was watching my line like a hawk.

Looks like that bass has a close human relative.

Plastics from the bank to about 10 feet out.

Here in SE VA the fish have been biting about everything, even some on topwater already. However, the larger fish have been on moving baits like spinnerbait, crankbait and until very recently, jerkbait. Worms and jigs have been catching plenty as well, just not the larger fish. With the temps this week, the fish will be flooding the shallows here and making beds. My friend caught one of the bed last Friday when the water was in the mid-50s.

Thanks for the heads up boys. I'll be trying the chatterbait and spinnerbaits this afternoon....in addition to jigs and shaky head. So many to try, so little time.

These were all caught in the past 2 weeks on a swimbait.

Welcome GDR! Nice first post, what part of VA are you in?

Thanks,  I'm in Richmond.

I had about 45 minutes to kill before a meeting today, so I stopped by a local pond to enjoy this warm weather. It was great to be outside, but what a frustrating time I had fishing.

First, I had a solid bite along a little dropoff by the reed line, but my reel hand fumbled a bit on the strike and I screwed up the hook set.

Then, I had a HUGE bite in the shadows of a dock. I didn't see the fish, but you can just tell when you have a big one. I set the hook good and fought it for maybe 5 seconds, but didn't realize until it was too late that it was charging straight at me. As I scrambled to pick up the slack, the fish got off.

Oh well. I'll try again tomorrow.

Edit: I was fishing with a 5" Senko, red shad color.

Edit 2: this was the first day of the year I've fished that there were visible signs of life. The frogs were croaking, there were lots of bait fish in the shallows, and plenty of turtles swimming around.

Nice fish, however, for pictures 1 and 3, you should probably have a doctor look at that. I'm not judging you, just saying that there something wrong with your face. ..

Nailed 11 on April 4th.  Two on a Senko and the rest on a Zoom trick worm.

Had two break offs on the trick worm and I actually missed one on a trick worm.

The bass were still silver meaning they are just starting to move from their winter hideouts and hitting the shallows.

Sam, are you predicting what your results will be tomorrow or was that from another year?

Been pretty successful in my area with everything except topwaters. Been most successful with white and chartreuse grubs though.
