Fishing The Big 'o This Weekend! Any Info?

Featured Replies

Gang,

A friend of mine is flying down from NC for a few days of fishing. I'm taking him down to the Lake Okeechobee.

Looking for Intel on what patterns are working well in certain areas of the lake (It's huge). I have some familiarity with the Lake, but still kind of a rookie on that body of water.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Swim baits like Gambler E-Z swimmers on the outside edges.  I like the Harney Pond Canal area of the lake, West Side.

I fish the SE corner of the lake out of Slims Fish camp. I am usually throwing a Big EZ, frog, spinnerbaits  or a bluegill chatterbait on the grass edges. Kramer island, Grassy and Pelican Bay keep me busy. Rita Island always hold fish. There are big fish being caught daily

Try Harney Pond and  buckhead ridge. Look for submerged grass and throw  a swim, chatter or spinner bait. or go Flip a jig/ creature bait in the reeds. Keep your eye out for fish on beds or even areas that have beds.

I'll be there in 2 weeks. Keep me posted fella's if you don't mind. Only been there once and don't really know anything about the place
