RoF of lipless baits?

Featured Replies

I was just curious to see if any of you guys have ever calculated the rate of fall for any lipless cranks. I'm specifically curious about the Red Eye 1/2oz and the Flatt Shad 1/2oz.

I plan to do it myself soon but figured I'd compare it to other's observations.

I've always figured the drop on rattle baits at roughly a foot per second.  Now that I think about it,  I don't know where that number comes from or if it is anywhere close to being right.  Surely someone on this board knows for certain.

I'd say you're about right. I just wonder if there is a big difference in a bait like the Red Eye that wobbles as it sinks and another lipless that drops like a rock.

Good thing about ROF with lipless baits - you can control it somewhat with your line choice - braid, fluorocarbon and mono.
