New Rod And Reel For This Guy !!

Featured Replies

I am selling my St Croix Avid MH-F and Revo STX. I will be buying a new combo.  I already have a 7' MH-F Avid spinning that I mainly use for carolina rigs and some jigs which I just bought last fall. The casting combo Im selling did all that as well as spinnerbaits/buzzbaits So Now Im looking at a new casting setup for mainly spinnerbaits and buzz baits.  Here's the question, Should I use the spinning setup for the spinner/buzzbaits and get a casting combo for jigs and carolina rigs? If i buy it for spinnerbaits which rods would some of you guys recommend for this application?

The reason I'm selling the avid and revo is because this is the last right hand reel I have left and I feel the 6'6" is too stout whereas the 7' MH feels much better. Next question is now that I'm used to St Croix MH rods are others MH rods going to feel like my Medium rods?

Thanks in advance for your recommendations guys.

I prefer a casting rig for jigs and c rigs for sure

I feel more connected to the bait and line with a casting setup

whichever technique you need better accuracy and sensitivity is the one i would go with a casting set up... so jigs and c-rigs would get the nod from me, but you can do either with either... good luck with your choice... (do you think the ice will be off Mille Lacs for opener???)

The only reason I would think maybe as well is that there was so much snow early in the year that the ice wasnt as thick as it could have been. its still a crap shoot with the weather though.
