Finally Got Out This Year

Featured Replies

And the fishing was terrible. There must have been 100 people fishing from the bank today at Sayers Dam. I saw about a dozen bass boats. I didnt have a bite, and I didnt see anyone even catch a crappie.

The lake came up almost over night, I was expecting winter levels and was suprised its almost full pool. It was MUD. I tried... a deep diving crankbait at creek intersecting the main channel. Everywhere I fished, I marked fish of some type. I fished the old 220 roadbed, through a shakey head on it to no avail, that and a silent red eye shad.

Then I moved to the lower roadbed and was marking fish like crazy. I tried a senko, I tried going shallow, I tried it in 30ft of water. NADA.

Water temps ran between 44 and 50 depending where I was but that couldve been false readings with the water conditions and the warm sun we had today. No surface activity, no bird activity. The more I fish this lake the less I like it. It used to be pretty darn good, but the bass got a virus and its never been the same. Some days I can catch a full sack, then I might go a week of catching one or two an outing.

Was nice just to go, I mainly wanted to make sure the boat was not gonna give me any issues in travel. At least now everything is back in the boat also. Im running out of room to put rods. When I put in the new carpet this summer I am going to build a box specifically to hold these 3700 series so I can get my rod locker back.
