There's a lake in Deerfield Beach that I haven't fished since October. It's my go to for catching Snakehead and I'm thinking of going up there tomorrow. Anyone catching those toothed creatures right now? Is it worth the 40min trip or should I stick to LMB around my way?

Deerfield!! If I am not mistaken you live in Miramar. Go off the Sawgrass Expy, and Coral Springs Dr, and fish that big canal on the West side that is the levy that separates the glades from civilization. I would walk South towards Markham park from there. I experienced and saw plenty of snakehead action there.

 

Personally, I would focus on LMB, in your neck of the woods. I don't see the fascination with snakeheads. Yeah, they fight and tear up your tackle, but so do mudfish and I have caught plenty of those in the glades.

That's the fascination, the fight. Let's be honest, we all love catching fish but a bass is easily reeled in unless on light tackle unless it's stuck in vegetation.

I agree with you about holding off driving so far unless he knows a spot that's holding fish and big fish to make it worthwhile.

I get that Diggy, and with that although snakeheads fight well, they just don't do it for me. Again, that's just me, the rest of you guys have it and have a blast catching them. 

Same here.....although snook fight ten times more than bass they just don't do it for me either.  There's nothing like bringing in a big bass.  Although I do want to catch some snakehead, really just to see if they taste as good as everyone says.

Snakeheads don't get it for me either, I prefer bass or peacocks.  If I'm going to drive 20 or 30 miles it's going to be for a fish that has the potential of going 20+ lbs, I want it in open water and light tackle.
