Help With My Reel

Featured Replies

I have a BPS "tourney special" that I use on my jig rod. The other afternoon in the middle of using it, it started giving me issues. Anytime I would press the cast button down to flip my jig and turn the handle to engage the spool, it would stay in free spool until I would manually have to flip the button up with my thumb. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

The reel is likely in need of a deep cleaning. The kick lever may be worn down as well. I extend a 10% discount to members here making the cost of a clean/lube $19.80 plus shipping. I'm not sure what those reels are selling for, but if it makes sense economically send it in.

Thanks for the reply. I would consider sending it to you if it were a nicer reel, but its a budget reel. It could be a "you get what you pay for" kind of thing. Im really hard on my equipment, so I dont go overboard on the higher end stuff.
