Chirp Fish Finders For Kayaking?

Featured Replies

  • Super User

I was about to buy a Lowrance 4 Elite for my Yak when I saw they released the new model with chirp technology.

Any value in chirp for a Yak over traditional? Not sure if I should wait.

Thoughts?

Whats your budget like? I just purchased a kayak as well and plan on getting a fishfinder soon. I've been looking at down imaging, Humminbird 698ci HD SI Combo. Just researched CHIRP tech and from what I can tell Down Imaging looks better. Honestly I think which ever one you choose including the one without CHIRP will serve you well. Down Imaging and CHIRP just seem like really cool features but not a necessity.

I would wait for the chirp, that is what im doing right now. Lowrance said the new units should be in stores in May, dsi looks much better on these

My Elite 7 Chrip for my Ride 135 came in last Friday. I got it mounted Saturday afternoon, and used it for a few hours Saturday, but I was busy running a tournament so I didn't get much time with it. So far I really like it.
