Lamiglas Excel 2 Rods

Featured Replies

i know these are fairly new but has anyone got one? they look pretty sweet with the deep blue color. thinkin of pickin up one but was curious - tackle tour has the 704 listed as a medium heavy. it has a lure rating of 1/4-3/4 oz and line rating of 10-20lb. however *** has the 705 listed as the medium heavy. its ratings are 1/4-1oz and 12-25lb. kind of unsure which one to consider getting. will be used mostly for texas rigs and senkos. occasionally ill throw into moderate cover

I have 2 of last years excels, the orange ones.. Which IMO are better rods.. The 4's are MH .. I have a 704 casting and a 703 spinning... Awesome rods... I haven't seen any reviews on the new ones but from what I heard they are not made at lamiglas anymore like their other rods... They're made in china I believe

I have handled these in the stores. They did not have the cranking rod but regarding all the "fast" action rods, I was surpised how different they were from typical Lamiglas. The tip action was heavier but slower than, say the pro X or Certified Pro (Does that make sense?). The taper of the blank reminds me of the Veritas actualy.

The quality looks great and they dont have a real heavy gel coat build. I was never an orange Excel owner, I cannot put a finger on what I didnt like about those (lol it was probably the color) but I would pick one these rods up for sure if I was in the market for another worm/jig/T-rig rod but that is the last thing I need more of. I would not expect these rods to be great light bait flingers or smallmouth rods the way the legacy Lamiglas and Pro X have proven to be but I think they are stepping up their game in terms of what nationwide bass anglers are looking for.

From a Lamiglas Employee, the last few batches of orange ones were also chinese.

I've got the 735 Excel II Robster,

I also have the Excel I 703 spinning rod and had the Excel I 734 (broke).

Nice rods all the way around.

Glad I got mine early then lol

i am likely gonna order the excel 2. unsure of which tho the 704 or 705. may order both and c if i can return one

I don't know. A US blank maker in my home woods making rods in China......Hmmm, yeah I don't get it. But then again, Croix had some rods made in Mexico. Sign of the time I suppose. What boggles me is the cost of the blank should you want to build on one is the same price as the built stick. Oh yeah, they are made in China. That explains it.

webertime would u say the components on the original excel are higher quality than the new ones? the guides, reel seat etc. or is the new one the best bang for the buck

They both use quality Fuji reel seats. Both also use what appear to be steel guides with a lower grade ceramic insert. The original orange sticks were assembled by Lamiglass in the factory.
