Swimming Shad Up To Small Plastic Swimbait Rod

Featured Replies

I have a 6"10 compre for weightless flukes and caffeine shad. but lately I want to get into small swimbaits, like swimmin caffeine shads, the berkly plastic baits with the jig head already in bait. Also really loving that new rib shad. thinking a MH premier. I figure a descent weighted rib shad is around 3/4 oz. Also this is a reaction bait right, was having a convo at academy with a dude that said all plastics were in need a good sensitive rod. I figure with these type baits, you gotta cross their eyes :)

A sensitive rod will help to an extent, but these baits aren't like most plastics. You would be correct in you belief that these are reaction baits. Generally a normal hookset will do so use a rod appropriate to handle the weight.

thanks, I feel my choice in a premier is good aswell, for some reason I am am reverting back to full cork handles

The premier is a good rod. All St. Croix rods are good rods. I have a 6`6`` Medium Premier for poppers and other small topwaters and cranks and i love it. I would definitely reccomend it and i think a MH would work well for plastic swimbaits.
