Duckett Ghost Vs Micro Magic

Featured Replies

I have heard good things about both of these rods but is the micro magic really worth the extra $50?

I like to use braided line with a fluorocarbon leader.  The micro guides won't allow this setup as they are too small to allow the joining knot to flow thru freely.  Therefore I prefer the ghost.  But if you use straight braid or mono, the micros are great!

I prefer foam over cork, so I went with the Ghost. You may prefer cork though.

I looked into this recently and here is the biggest thing between the two.. The micro magic has a 20 year break it and replace it warranty.. The ghost has a 1 year... As for as bob said about the eyes I was almost positive they where the same size except the ghost has stainless steel eyes with no insert..

IMHO I would go with micro magic because of the warranty.. A extra 50 to 60 bucks for a extra 19 years of break it and replace it warranty is well worth it..

Some one correct me if I'm wrong because I want one of the two soon

I was wondering the same thing. I know a guy that swears by the ghosts, but if you break it you don't get the 20 year warranty.

I would rather save the $50 on my initial purchase as opposed to getting a better warranty. If you break a Ghost after a year, just go buy another one. If you break a micro magic you have to either take it back or ship it back which would take time. You are essentially paying $50 for a warranty. I don't feel like a $100 item is worth spending $50 on a warranty. If I buy a $1,500 TV, then I may pay a little extra for a warranty, but not for a $100 rod that if it were to break would more than likely be user error anyway.

Why not a macro magic instead then?
