What Type Of Reel For 20 Lb. Line?

Featured Replies

I've already got my rod and line down but I can't find a reel that's <40$ that has a gear ratio of at least 6.2:1 and holds 20lb. test line. Anyone out there know anything? I know it's a cheap price range but can't do any better right now:(

Are you looking for a spinning or baitcast reel?

I can't find anything that completely suits your needs but these are some nice reels I suggest taking a look at that aren't too far out of your budget.

Rather save up for a better baitcaster. Look for a used black/silver/pro max, bps pro qualifier or a shimano citica

Use a thinner 20lb fluorocarbon line from Seaguar or Sunline and put on a reel of your choice with mono backing (cheap Zebco 12lb from WM is ideal) .

Another option is using 30lb ~ 40lb braid (with the same backing) and use a fluoro or mono leader (depending on your application) .

The BPS PQ is a fine reel and if you wait you can find for $79.00 on sale a couple of times per year . Another option is the H20 Xpress baitcast reel from AS that runs $59.00 every day  , which is another fine option .

Would be a no brainer for me....I would buy a Shimano Bantam off ebay before buying any new casting reel under 40.

I am a lefty but keep a few righty guest rods the have Bantams on them. They are very reliable and most people are surprised by how well they fish.
