Anyone Deal With Carpal Tunnel?

Featured Replies

About 6 months ago I started experiencing numbness in my hand/wrist and forearm and it has progressivly gotten worse to the point now that its nearly unbearable pain when working (on computers) driving, and sleeping. At home physical therapy has not helped, and iv done the exercises daily as prescribed. My dr finally decided it time to do surgery, How will this affect my fishing? I work the rod with my left and reel with my right, is the rod working or reeling harden on the hand? Im considering switching to left hand bc reels but Im unsure if it will help or make matters worse.

great, now you have me double thinking the surgery! My dr said because of how fast it has progressed its the best bet but now im not sure

I had carpal tunnel surgery on both hands.  It stopped my fishing for awhile, until I regained strength in my wrists.  Afterwards, I feel as if both hands are a little weaker than before.  I cast more now with two hands because I feel like my grip with one hand is not quite what it was.  Otherwise, it has not affected anything else.  Just make sure you give your wrists time to recover and regain strength in your hands.

Have had two surgerys on right wrist area.  The last time they were in there after surgery they said they found something else but couldn't fix due to fact I hadn't approved that spot!!!!  This was years ago and I remember going to an accupunture doc and life was good.  He fixed it and never had to go under knife again.  Hands and wrists will still stiffen up and hurt...but stretch em and so far so good.

Good Luck

I have had bad when I use to do framing when I was younger. That plus being on a computer tore me up. Sometimes I couldn't even turn a door knob it would d**n near drop me to my knees in pain. If you are tone and can see your veins and stuff I could looks at my wrist and bend my fingers and you can see like a bulge in your tendons.
