Think I Found A Prime Location, Need Lure Advice

Featured Replies

While bankfishing one of my fav spots, i noticed an area i thought was inacessible. The spot i'm looking at is an area of river with concrete bridge pillars. the water there is typically stained a deep green. the bank leading down to it is too steep to risk taking my tackle box, so i may buy a small box to clip to my belt loop and take 2 rods. what 4 or 5 lures would you take?

Without see a picture it's hard to tell. Why not find a box that can hold a variety so you can fish the water colum and the specific situation? A few tubes, topwater or two, spinnerbait and a hard/soft jerbait.

These are great tools for traveling light and getting into tight spaces.

If your going to go off in the jungle in search of the wild smallmouth please tell someone where you are going.

I attempted to get into a spot next to a flooded drainage pipe and fell in chest deep.

That was my reward and I was wearing full length jeans.

Tubes would be my go to as well! And same crap happened to me! 3803922E-9F66-4116-92A9-D3FAF3A7B4E4_zps

You don't need much. Get a bunch of 1/8 oz. ball head jigs and a selection of 3" curly tailed worms, in various colors. You're good to go. I totally agree with what has been said too.....let people know your "float" plan.....when/where you are going and when you be back. And take a cell phone with you.

Tell someone please. I am handicapped aND I WENT INTO THE WILD TO SAVE A LURE AND SANK IN MUD. nOBODY WAS AROUND AND IT TOOK OVER 1/2 HOUR TO FREE MYSELF.

Thanks for the heads up and concern. luckily this spot isn't isolated. it's under a frequently used walk bridge right in the middle of town. the reason i can't take my tackle box is just because i have a clunky Flambeau box that tends to roll over on any kind of incline.

Get a backpack or tackle bag. It will make bank beating much easier.

Don't underestimate that water, just because there is pedestrian/vehicular traffic above doesn't mean you're safe, all it take is one wrong step, slip, or drop off and you're in serious trouble. Buy a sling pack & waterproof plano boxes, it doesnt cost much & it makes life much easier.

1/8oz bullet sinker, 4/0-5/0 EWG and a flippin' tube
