Trolling motor speed control preferences
I usualy run 2-3 on constant with the heading active. If I am picking apart the bank then its on 3-5 manual control only. I only do high when crossing a channel as I am usually too lazy to run the big motor for such a short distance. This is all on my Ulterra.

Hello from Illinois
I used to live in Macomb, IL for a while and used to go out to Banner Marsh every now and then. I never did well there but that was also 30ish years ago. It is beautiful though. Heard of some lunker but like I said, never produced for me.

Food while you fish?
Follow the trail of sunflower seed shells and you will find my boat. Higher concentration of shells means I caught something there!

Bass Fishing Wisconsin
My favorite place in the world to fish! I absolutely love the Chippewa Flowage (East side for smallies and west side for largies, anywhere for walleye). Our family had a cabin on the lake for around 15 yrs.

Plano Edge or other ideas
I like the Bass Mafia stuff but have been adding a lot of the Academy boxes here lately and am really pleased. I like the double sided ones, especially for separating my 1/4 and 1/2oz lipless on there own sides.

PSA for Ulterra Owners
Just a friendly reminder to Ulterra owners as we start the fishing season: - make sure batteries are up to par as these are voltage sensitive - clean and lube belt/shaft - check and/or regrease thread rod under sideplate *** Last but not least, if it has sat for months and you decide to go fishing at 6am with an air temp of 20* and water temp of 40*, do not assume it will autodeploy when launching your boat by yourself. Don't ask me how I know this! 🏊♂️🥶

Sweet home Chicago
Lived there until I turned 32 and ran quickly to NC. I love it here and do not miss living in the Chicago burbs. The only thing I miss is the food and constant sports news/tv. If I was sent to live in the north woods of Wisconsin, I would do so gladly. My NC wife says the same and she loves her home state.

Tuesday, February 25,2025 and Near 70*
Curious as to how you did. If I can get a new cranking battery before the weekend I want to go out, probably to High Rock.

Meals and Recipes
The wife and I decided to try something new yesterday. We made crappie California rolls and they were really good. This was our first time doing so and now she is looking for a class to teach us how to make sushi and rolls correctly. Our rice wasn't sticking well enough. We got the idea from fishnmore on youtube.

Musky Lures
I caught a 43" musky on a weightless Berkley Pit Boss. I have also caught some of t-rigged tubes.

Simple airbrush patterns
I get my paints from Hobby Lobby and try to wait for the 40% off to hit. I started with the Harbor Freight Avanti kit and quickly bought a badger which made a world of difference. I bought a bunch of cheap exacto knives and use the "pen" to hold lures. I sit them in a 4x4 block that I drilled holes into. Walmart has some color changing acrylics that I really like but you need to thin them out a ton and add about 2-3x the layers to achieve a good effect. I also use uv resin instead of spray clears, dipping or epoxy. The fabric store has all sorts of materials for scaling patterns. Practice...practice....practice. Do this on a poster board or even paper grocery bags to see how air pressure and trigger control changes how the paints lays down. It's a great time consuming and mental break!

Pyramid Bass Pro Memphis - Snowfall
Deep dish is a tourist fad. Don't get me wrong, it's delicious (I am a Giordanno guy), but true Chicago pizza is thin and crispy. I prefer mine to be cut into squares.

Pyramid Bass Pro Memphis - Snowfall
Growing up in the Chicago burbs, I really miss food. I have daily cravings for Portillos, gyros, shoot just a basic hotdog. Things foodwise just aren't the same here in NC. I like the bbq here but everything else doesn't compare. My wife thought I was crazy when we met but all that changed after her first visit to Chicago. Now, she craves it more rhan I do sometimes! Topic wise, I stand by the whole southerners can't drive thing and don't even start complaining about the humidity to me. Most don't understand that late July/August is super humid and temps are sometimes 100* (90s are normal) in the midwest. All in all, I wouldn't ever move back to Illinois, Wisconsin maybe.
