Good Bass Ponds Near Arvada?

Featured Replies

I'm new to Colorado and am wondering if anyone can point me in the direction to a few good bass ponds in the Arvada area? The only places I've been to are Lowell ponds and the wheat ridge ponds. Any help would be appreciated.

Ask around on the forums on fishexplorer. People will give you some of the more well known spots, but don't expect to get any honey holes on there. Make sure to tell them you are a catch and release angler. Bass fisherman in Colorado take this very seriously.

I would suggest you try Standley Lake. There are some nice smallies in that lake and you can catch them from shore easily enough. Just find a rocky bank and throw a texas rig anything.

I had some pretty good ponds around the Boulder area, but I moved away right before the floods. If I had to guess I would say most of them do not even exist anymore.

Catch and release is essential for Colorado bass since they are not well protected by our Division Of Parks and Wildlife, who are probably the worst fisheries managers in the nation.
