Would You Use A Jig And Trailer Here?

So I've fished a spot where 3 out of 8 times I've caught some nice 1-3lbs bass. It's about 10-12 feet deep with long, wavy, grass about 2 feet below the surface. I think the water is considered stained. The times I've caught fish I used a white Terminator spinnerbait. I'd cast it as far as I could and then slowly retrieve it over the top of the grass. The bass would just crush it. I caught about 5-8 each time I think.

Well, the last couple times I tried that I didn't get a bite. I was wondering if a different lure would have worked better. Since I'm trying to become more well-rounded and get better with jigs and trailers I thought this might be the time to try a swim jig and trailer. But I'm not sure. Maybe a crankbaits, topwater, Texas rigged worm, scatter rap, of something else would be better.

What do you think?

Yes, a swim jig or a jig would work very well in that situation. I would start with a swim jig and just rip it thru the grass.

What kind of trailer?

What depth? On the bottom? In the middle, over the top of the weeds?

I would use a Reaction Innovations Skinny Dipper or any type of swim bait soft plastic trailer and pull it either right over the top of the grass or try ripping it right thru the grass a couple of feet down.

Yes , swim jigs or 1\2 oz chatterbait with trailer or fluke attached

I would try to go with weightless plastics, a jig,(both swimming and penetrating the grass) and a lipless crankbait barely ticking the top of the grass.

The only time I don't use a jig is when there is massive amounts of algae, or I'm not fishing.

The only time I don't use a jig is when...I'm not fishing.

Arv has the right idea.. I like that. :hangloose:
