Hand Pouring Monkey

Featured Replies

Is there such a thing? Man, if there is he's got me by the short ones!! I can't quit buying stuff to pour baits with. Just what I needed another hobby. Oh well, at least it's related to a hobby I already have. This guy must be the bait monkeys' first cousin

Nice thing about this hobby is that you can:

1. recycle plastic and make new lures

2. make copies of most lures with cheap plaster

3. you don't need to reorder supplies too often because everything goes a long way (glitter, dye, softener, plastic)

4. in the long run, you will save money and time, except for clearance bin plastics. Senkos over 70 cents when you consider ta, gas or shipping; your stick - $.15 or less plus your time.

I love it and can't wait to try my new stuff! :)

Exprimenting is what I love the most. And the fact that I caught fish with something that isn't on the market. Ohh and being able to go right behind someone and catch a fish that wouldn't bite their lure, but it took mine. (yes had that happen to me on Lake Tarpon, for those who live around the Tampa, Florida area.)

You said it all! It adds a bit of depth and spice to fishing and helps keep away the cabin fever blues when I can't go (like now with no ice %&*#  :'( ).

That's when you do what I do, find a deep hole in a creek, relax and present what I made realy slow.  Making the Del Mart's Fluke in the winter time is what I use.

I just started pouring a couple of months ago and my girlfriend said "oh no not another hbby".  Guess who is pouring worms now?   ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D

I am interested in pouring my own plastic baits. Could anyone direct me to a web site dealing in the supplys I would need to get started. Sounds like a good hobby during the winter months here in Michigan.

Thank you

Thomas

Go to tackleunderground.com it's a great site for all kinds of tackle building info.

Pouring and mold making are in the article section of bassresource.com and I am polishing the tutorials on my site:  http://senkosam.tripod.com/.  I need to add the same pictures, but the instructions are clear enough.
