Anybody Fish Oroville Afterbay

Featured Replies

I'm new to afterbay fishing. Willing to trade pond locations and specific tackle I use and believe me I catch hogs... have pics

I believe the after bay is mostly stripers on heavy white chartreuse hair jigs, cast into current seams.

That's why 8 started fishing it but it's different. Tons of reeds.

OroBass, sent you a mess. went their yesterday. Right now the birds are nesting in the coves but the walls (rocks) are on fire! I'll be on Oroville tomorrow - C.A.S.T. for kids in the morn., so I won't be getting any fishing in. This one is all about the kids.

Afterbay, pitch black & blue jigs, senkos, or favorite creature bait into the tules. swimming brush hogs along the edges of tules is a favorite of a lot of the locals. Crank baits near rip raps are good too. And swim baits anywhere in between. What can be pain is the amount of wind there can be there and the constant water level change. Right now the water level will continue to drop due to the amount of water being release for the up coming salmon season. I would be very cautious because there can be some nasty wind. Trolling for steelhead with doggers & flashers can be good too if that's you're thing. But I would beware of the bird nesting. If distributed and dfg or sheriff catches you, you will get a ticket.

OK thanks guys. Tarleet are you from butte county?

Yes I am. But between lake oroville and the after bay, launching the boat I rather hit the lake.
