7'3 Or Under Heavy Action Rod

Featured Replies

Im trying to find a rod under 7'3" to fish swimabaits, 3/4 ounce spinnerbaits, and swimjigs with a trailer. I mostly use mattlures u2 gills and ultimate gills(1-2 ounces) and other reaction baits over 1/2 ounce. The shorter the better as im using them in small ponds with overhanging trees. My budget is under $150. Any suggestions? Id like something with a fast or extra fast tip for hard hooksets and backbone to horse big bass away from cover. Ive been using an okuma 7'11" big bait rod but its too long to get a good cast in most of the places i fish. Sensitivity isn't as important as backbone bur i dont really want a broomstick rod

The Falcon BuCoo and Shimano Clarus or Crucial rods are fantastic. All 3 are super tough, have plenty of backbone, action and sensitivity (and they're all pretty lightweight...I've fished all day with each with little fatigue). You should be able to easily find the length, action, and power you're seeking in each. At around or under 100$ each and with all three coming with a lifetime warranty you can't go wrong.

7'2" H Daiwa Tatula. It's one of the lightest rods in the price range. Build quality is phenomenal. Hard to beat for the street prices you can find.

I have a 13 7'3H *** black for frogging and a-rigs...works pretty good!

I would also recommend this rod for the $150.00 price range, unless you can find a 7'0" Heavy Duckett Micro Magic in your price range.
